Why is the right wine storage temperature so important?
Temperature controls wine maturation, which means that temperature fluctuations are absolutely disastrous for wines. The higher the temperature, the faster the wine matures. This is the reason why wine matures more slowly in a cool cellar. At a constant, long-term temperature of around 12-15°C, your wines will reach their full longevity potential. Tips for perfect wine storage
- Constant temperature: The ideal long-term storage temperature for wine is between 12-16°C. Temperatures that are too high and above all variable can have a negative effect on the maturing process, while temperatures that are too low slow down the maturing process.
- Humidity: Ensure a constant humidity of around 60-70% to keep the cork intact and prevent oxidation.
- Storage position: To prevent the cork of the wine from drying out, the ideal storage position is lying down.
- Light protection: Wines should be protected from direct sunlight and strong light, as UV light can have a negative effect on aromas and taste.
- Clean environment: When storing wine, we ensure a clean and odorless environment. Corks can absorb negative odors and labels can be damaged by careless storage.
