Tasting with the wineBANK
Together with wineBANK, we organized a tasting on Thursday, 9.10.2025 with the best and most famous single-vineyard wines from the Wachau. We focused on the wines of the traditional wineries on the left bank of the Danube, F.X. Pichler, Franz Hirtzberger, Prager, Knoll, Rudi Pichler, Alzinger, Gritsch and Stierschneider.
The tasting was hosted by Raphael Barbi from Wine Wallet. Due to his numerous experiences as a sommelier, including at Landhaus Bacher in the Wachau, several sommelier and wine training courses, as well as his place of residence in the Melk district, he knows the top Wachau wines like the back of his hand.
In a flight of two, the young 2020-2022 vintages were tasted, each with plenty of ageing potential. Grüner Veltliner and Riesling from the individual vineyards were pitted against each other. At the end of the tasting, the two Veltliner highlights Honivogl from Hirtzberger and Unendlich from F.X. Pichler were tasted.
