The storage of sweet wine

Store your sweet wines optimally and discover their longevity

Sweet wines such as ice wines, Trockenbeerenauslesen or Beerenauslesen develop fascinating complexity and finesse through perfect ageing. High-quality sweet wines in particular, such as German Riesling Spätlese, Sauternes sweet wines, Tokaj or Austrian sweet wines from renowned growing regions, benefit enormously from ageing. Under ideal conditions, they develop their intense tertiary aromas, balance and incomparable depth of flavor over time.

Why is the correct storage of sweet wine important?

Sweet wines are sensitive to temperature fluctuations, light and dry air. Incorrect storage can have a negative impact on the maturing process, bring out undesirable aromas or cause the wine to oxidize due to low humidity. In particular, acidity and freshness, which are important for the balance of the Prädikat wine, are lost if stored incorrectly. With the optimum storage solutions from Wine Wallet , your sweet wines mature under the best conditions and reach their full potential.

FAQ

Here you will find answers to frequently asked questions about Wine Wallet.

How long you can store a sweet wine depends on the wine and your personal taste. As a rule, sweet wines can mature for several years, often even several decades, and develop more complex aromas.

Short-term storage in the fridge is fine, especially for open bottles. For long-term storage, storage in perfect conditions such as Wine Wallet is essential to ensure optimal maturation.

The ideal long-term storage temperature for sweet wine is between 12-16°C. Temperatures that are too high and above all variable can have a negative impact on the maturing process.
